All car rentals in Irvine are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or when picking up the vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations associated with the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To rent a vehicle, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for drivers under 25. A valid driving license suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to provide valid payment information and a security deposit, as well as comply with any additional terms outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or at our Irvine office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment along with a security deposit is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Irvine, a thorough inspection is required. Please report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and billed appropriately. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is insufficient. Late returns may incur extra fees, so please inform us right away if you expect to return the vehicle later than agreed. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless covered by supplementary insurance. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses for Rentals
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any hazardous driving. The transportation of hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Ensure you operate the vehicle within its designated purpose and adhere to specified passenger and weight limits. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by California law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the total amount paid for your rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law in Irvine
These Terms are governed by the laws of California. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of California courts.
